Calcium Carbonate Masterbatch (CaCO3) for injection processes
Save by using it in the production of car parts, garden furniture, office supplies, buckets or receptacles, and the strengthening of household appliance parts.
The PLASPER® Calcium Carbonate Masterbatch is a mineral modifier with a high, very fine, treated CaCO3 content that has an excellent dispersion in the final product, indicated for direct addition in the processing of polyolefins. The PLASPER® mineral modifier is designed to increase productivity, reduce energy costs and improve properties in the injection.
ADVANTAGES
Economic saving
- Reduction in energy consumption
- Reduction in raw material costs of 3% to 20%, depending on the percentage of PLASPER® used
- Reduction of polymer consumption
- Reduction of cycle time due to the higher thermal conductivity of the CaCO3
- Helps to reduce thickness
- The PLASPER® concentrates produce a whitish appearance, which saves the use of TiO2
Using the PLASPER® CaCO3 MB allows the transformer to have control over their formulations, which allows for more flexibility in the purchase of raw material.
Improvements in productivity
- The CaCO3 increases the thermal conductivity of the minerals, which results in more rapid heating and cooling of the polymer (Fig. 1)
- Better dimensional stability, increase in production and easier transformation
- Improves the processability/transformation and the extrusion performance
- Considerably increases the speed of the line for faster process times
- Improves dispersion
- Improves the impression of the final product
Improves properties
- Increases rigidity
- Increases resistance to impact (dart drop)
- The CaCO3 mineral MB can be added at high doses
- Using the PLASPER® CaCO3 mineral MB improves the mechanical properties
Environmentally friendly
- Carbon footprint smaller than the virgin polymer
- Products are more environmentally friendly and sustainable with the use of PLASPER® CaCO3
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE
- The application of the PLASPER® Masterbatches does not involve any modification to the production process
- The most suitable dosing systems are:
- Gravimetric dosing unit
- Volumetric dosing unit (the best way is to use the feeder at the neck, between the hopper and the extruder)
- Centralised mixing stations also give good results
- Dosing: between 3% and 30%
